It includes a shear-stable viscosity index improver, antioxidants, anti-wear agents, and an approved EP additive. These elements reduce martensitic streaking of landing gear cylinders and prevent galling of shock strut bearings. Available in red (for Douglas Aircraft) and undyed straw (for Boeing Spec BMS 3-32, Type II), Aero 40 is compatible with MIL-PRF-6083 and other MIL-H5606 hydraulic fluids. It is not fully compatible with synthetic gas turbine lubricants or phosphate ester hydraulic fluids but works well with petroleum-based and synthesized hydrocarbon lubricants.
